On June 17, 2013, during that years rendition of the Pairs Air Show, Embraer announced the successor to its highly successful E-jet family, comprised of the E170, E175, E190, and E195, the Embraer E2 jets. At the time, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer disclosed that it had planned to spend around $1.7 billion on the research and development and capital expenditure (CapEx) of the new aircraft family.
