Turbulence is an everyday part of air travel that frequent flyers and occasional travelers have experienced at some point, and understanding the routes prone to turbulence is critical for pilots, airline planning, and operations. Turbulence is rated from 0 to 100 EDR (Eddy Dissipation Rate). EDR quantifies turbulence intensity in the atmosphere, but not its likelihood, and is not aircraft dependent.
