‘Implications of grave proportions’: Seismic result for the Democrats

The dominoes have fallen in quick succession and delivered a seismic result for the Democrats that is on par with the party’s sweeping victory in 2006 during the second term of George W. Bush.

While everyone expected the Democrats to win the House of Representatives, it was a much bigger task to take control of the Senate, requiring victories in states that have let them down before.

Not this time. They say things are bigger in Texas, and nowhere was the “blue wave” bigger than in James Talarico’s win over Republican Ken Paxton in the Lonestar State – which, as of now, is a purple (swing) state.

But then there’s Kansas, a state that had not sent a Democrat to the Senate in 94 years. Tonight, it elected pastor Adam Hamilton. The farming state of Iowa was emphatic too in its decision to elect Josh Turek, flipping the seat.
