A new vision for the Northern Territory’s digital future is taking shape, and Beetaloo Digital is inviting Territorians to be part of the conversation.
As artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital technologies continue to transform the global economy, the Northern Territory has an exciting opportunity to explore its role in Australia’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Beetaloo Digital, an initiative of Beetaloo Energy Australia Limited, is progressing plans for a proposed energy and data centre precinct at Weddell, south of Darwin.
The proposed precinct aims to bring together reliable energy, renewable technologies and next-generation digital infrastructure, creating the potential to attract new investment, generate opportunities for local businesses and support the development of emerging industries across the Territory.
But while the vision looks towards the future, Beetaloo Digital believes an important part of the journey starts right here, with the community.
Taking the Conversation to Territorians
Rather than simply talking about its plans, the Beetaloo Digital team has been getting out and about across the Top End, visiting local markets, shopping centres and community locations to connect with Territorians face-to-face.
These visits provide an opportunity to introduce the proposed project, explain the vision, answer questions and, importantly, listen to the views of local residents.
The team recognises that Territorians have valuable knowledge and perspectives about the region and that community input is an important part of understanding what matters most as the project progresses.
Conversations have covered a range of topics, including potential employment opportunities, opportunities for local businesses, water resources, energy requirements and environmental considerations.
These discussions are helping shape the conversation around what a future energy and digital infrastructure precinct could mean for the Northern Territory.
A Conversation About the Territory’s Future
With technology creating new industries and changing the way businesses and communities operate, projects such as the proposed Beetaloo Digital Precinct offer an opportunity to consider how the Northern Territory could participate in Australia’s digital future.
For Beetaloo Digital, engaging with the community is about more than sharing information. It is about creating opportunities for Territorians to ask questions, express their views and be part of an ongoing conversation about the opportunities and considerations associated with the proposal.
As planning progresses, the team is keen to continue meeting people throughout the Territory and hearing what they have to say.
Because the future of the Northern Territory is something Territorians should have a voice in.
