Poland’s largest infrastructure project Port Polska (previously known as CPK) and the city of Kielce signed a letter of intent to develop an intermodal freight terminal in Obice. The site will cover 25 hectares. Potential destinations include the Benelux and the Baltic states, as well as Ukraine and Asia, Port Polska said.
“The terminal may also be important for handling cargo in the eastern direction, including trade with Ukraine and transport on routes connecting Europe with Asia”, the company added. The facility will be strategically located between Warsaw and Kraków, the two Polish largest cities. However, it is not yet clear how long and how much it will take to build it.
Port Polska’s Centre for Transport and Mobility will work with the city of Kielce to analyse the impact of the investment on the current transport infrastructure. “The final model for the terminal’s implementation, its financing, and the schedule will be determined in subsequent stages, based on the results of the analyses.”

Port Polska rebranded from CPK (Centralny Port Komunikacyjny) at the end of 2025. The whole project is expected to cost around 130 billion Polish złoty (€31 billion). Roughly one-third of the budget will go to the construction of what will be Poland’s largest airport, while the rest will be used to build the future ‘Y’ high-speed line, linking Warsaw to Łódź, Poznań, and Wrocław.
So far, as the plans for an airport and high-speed rail line show, most of the focus has been placed on the movement of passengers. The agreement with Kielce represents one of the first significant milestones for Port Polska’s contribution to logistics and freight services. Before the letter, the area south of Warsaw, was not included in the plans for Port Polska, but the announcement of a rail terminal further expands the project’s reach.
