As reported by the Vibewire Data Centre News and Green Street News, Zerra DC has acquired the site of a former Ford car assembly plant for a planned data center campus.
The company acquires lots at 300-340 Barry Road at Campbellfield, north of Melbourne.
According to a planning permit application with the state of Victoria, the company is to develop a six-building campus on the site. Full details haven’t been shared. Zerra filed the application in April.
The Broadmeadows Assembly Plant opened in 1959. The 45-acre site was closed in 2016 after Ford ended manufacturing in Australia. The site was sold to the Pelligra Group in 2019 and rebranded to the Assembly Broadmeadows Industrial Park.
Owned by investment firm AGP, Zerra DC has data centre developments planned across India, Japan, and Australia. The company was previously known as AGP DC.
