The Victorian Coalition has pulled ahead of Labor and One Nation following the government’s high-stakes gamble to dump its deeply unpopular leader Jacinta Allan, turning the state election into a battle to define two relatively unknown party leaders.
The latest The Australian Financial Review/Redbridge/Accent Research survey, conducted just after Ben Carroll was elected Labor premier during a messy spill last week, showed the Coalition ahead on a primary vote of 30 per cent, while Labor fell to 23 per cent and One Nation dropped to 22 per cent.
