A strictly confidential June 2023 briefing to Premier Jacinta Allan warned her top officials that the CFMEU was taking over Victoria’s Big Build-complete with bikies, criminals, and major cost blowouts.
The document, signed by four of the state’s most senior infrastructure public servants, told Allan the union’s “concerning behaviour” risked blowing out project costs and schedules across the $109 billion program. It also flagged outlaw motorcycle gangs and convicted criminals already on taxpayer-funded sites.
Allan’s office today claimed she “was not aware of this brief” and that saying otherwise is “a lie.”
This lands as she fights for her job, with Ben Carroll and other ministers pushing for a royal commission she has so far refused.
