Australia’s eSafety Commissioner Criticises X Over Graphic Attack Videos

At the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion in Sydney on Thursday, eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant accused X of resisting orders to delete horrific videos, including the 2025 Bondi Beach terrorist attack that killed 15 at a Hanukkah event, Charlie Kirk’s assassination, and others.

She detailed three ongoing legal battles, frustrated that X views such post-mortem footage as no worse than a gore movie, while her office fights to block it in Australia.

The commission, probing antisemitism’s rise and social media’s role since the January 2026 Bondi attack, heard Grant call for stronger enforcement powers amid user backlash labeling her a censorship advocate.
