PSA Intermodal Italy and Logtainer acquired 70% of the shares of the Padua Intermodal Terminal, in northeastern Italy. The remaining shares will stay with Interporto Padova.
The deal has been in the works since January, and is now finalised after all approvals were granted by local authorities. “The project, leveraging the global network of ports, inland terminals, and logistics solutions developed by the PSA Group, will introduce an integrated approach to logistics flow management in Padua”, Interporto Padova said.
The Padua intermodal terminal
The intermodal facility in Padua plays a strategic role for the logistics of northern Italy and more. In a recent report, it was placed sixth among all inland intermodal terminals in Europe, second in Italy behind Verona. Its location makes it an important hub for connections to the main Italian ports: Genoa, Trieste, Livorno, Gioia Tauro and many more. Internationally, the terminal has links to the Netherlands and Germany and, as of this month, Belgium.
