TransPennine Express has unveiled newly refurbished staff facilities at Dewsbury station, giving a new lease of life to a long-unused part of the station.
Transformed by an investment of more than £80,000, the first-floor space, once home to a dance studio, now includes a bright staff breakroom, a station manager’s office and two additional rooms for hot desking.
The improvements provide a comfortable place for colleagues to take time out away from the busy station environment, while also creating better spaces for focused work and operational activity.
The space will also be used for community work and school visits.
Prior to the refurbishment the area had remained vacant since the previous occupants had moved out.
Scott Olivant, head of property projects for TransPennine Express, said: “It’s great to see this space brought back into use in a way that really benefits our colleagues.
“The new facilities make a real difference to the working day and create a much more welcoming environment for teams at Dewsbury. It’s a positive step in making sure our people have the right spaces to support them in their roles.”
