Learner Driver Charged After Fatal Crash at Melbourne Supanova

Around 5 p.m. Saturday near Melbourne Showgrounds, 33-year-old Awer Dau allegedly drove a grey Toyota sedan onto the footpath at Langs Road and Epsom Road, striking the group and traveling 120 meters before stopping.

The 20-year-old from Keysborough died at the scene, while a second 20-year-old remains stable at Royal Melbourne Hospital with severe leg injuries; the third man was unharmed but checked.

Dau, an unlicensed learner on bail and known to police, was arrested after trying to flee and faces dangerous driving causing death charges, with police probing speed, drugs, or alcohol—no terrorism link found. Supanova held a minute’s silence Sunday for the victims before reopening.

  1. This scumbag was on bail after a string of offences and was never fit to be our community. His family and himself should be immediately deported. We do not want and have never asked for this scum in Australia.
