Geelong commuters told to brace for extended travel times

Travel might be free but Geelong commuters will have a longer and disrupted journey throughout April.

Scheduled maintenance and upgrade work on the Geelong line will add an additional 40 minutes to regular travel times.

The routine works occur annually, typically in line with the April school holidays.

From Saturday 11 April to Friday 24 April coaches will replace all trains between Wyndham Vale and Waurn Ponds.

Travellers heading into Melbourne will transfer to a V/Line service at Wyndham Vale.

Additional changes will impact late trains from Sunday 12 April to Tuesday 14 April.

Evening trains, from 8.30pm until the last service each night, will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.

An updated timetable both city and Geelong bound can be found on V/Line’s website.

Travel on all Victorian public transport remains free until April 30.
