Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) recently faced a bottleneck after a T’way Air Boeing 737-800 lost a right main-gear tire during a routine landing, leaving debris on the runway and forcing controllers to close the strip for further inspection. The airport switched to single-runway operations due to the height of an arrival bank, which pushed aircraft into holding patterns and ultimately delayed departures on the ground.
