Just two decades after its debut, the Airbus A380 remains the world’s largest passenger aircraft for the simple reason that no other model matches its combination of physical scale and usable cabin volume. It remains the only full-length double-deck widebody jet ever produced, allowing airlines to stack capacity and onboard amenities without sacrificing space. This is especially true given the aircraft’s premium-heavy upper decks and vast main-deck economy cabins. Airbus itself lists typical seating at around 545 passengers in a four-class layout, with a certified exit limit of 853. The aircraft has some of the longest wings of any jet ever built and was designed exclusively for the hub-and-spoke era, as the model could support concentrated demand and reduce the operational complexities on key trunk routes.
