Emirates is gearing up to repurpose over 110,231 lb (50,000 kg) of materials from 191 aircraft into handmade schoolbags and backpacks, which will be donated to children through community schools and organizations in Africa and Asia this year. The initiative is in commemoration of World Environment Day and is part of an environmental strategy that includes a commitment to consuming responsibly.
