Bondi Shooting Survivor Given Unwanted Alias at Sydney Hospital

Shikhverg, a Jewish survivor of the December 14, 2025, ISIS-inspired shooting that killed 16 at a Hanukkah event, had her identity changed to protect her from media, hospital staff said.

She rejected the explanation, fearing untrustworthy employees amid a prior scandal at nearby Bankstown Hospital where nurses boasted about harming ‘Zionist’ patients.

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park and Premier Chris Minns called it a mistake without consent, apologised, and insisted Jewish patients remain safe, though Shikhverg now hesitates to seek care after nearly 50 years in Australia.
