Record Majority of Australians Support January 26 as Australia Day

Resolve Political Monitor survey from January 12-16 shows 68% of Australians favor keeping Australia Day on the traditional date, up from 47% in 2023.

Support spans ages, with 55% of 18- to 34-year-olds and even higher among younger groups in separate polls backing it.

While critics like councillor Ahmed Ouf call the date the start of catastrophe and ABC satire draws fire for historical claims, pro-celebration voices emphasize unity, with events like Brisbane’s march going ahead.
