A total of 67 people were killed when an American Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 passenger jet and a US Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter collided near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on 29 January this year.
The accident, which took place during Exercise Talisman Sabre, resulted in the deaths of Captain Danniel Lyon, Lieutenant Maxwell Nugent, Warrant Officer Class Two Joseph Laycock, and Corporal Alexander Naggs.
The airline says it will cut check-in time by up to 50 per cent with the upgrades, which include changing its airport check-in kiosks to bag tag printers and encouraging guests to check in online or via the Virgin Australia app.
