Naveed Akram and his father Sajid Akram, two men of Pakistani descent, conducted a mass shooting at a Jewish Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, killing 16 people including children and a rabbi, and injuring over 40 others while shouting ‘Allahu Akbar.’
The attackers, known to ASIO and possessing legal gun licenses, were neutralised by police, with Sajid Akram killed by a detective and Naveed Akram dying at the scene.
Bystander Ahmed al-Ahmed disarmed one gunman, sustaining gunshot wounds, as the incident prompted Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to announce stricter gun laws and heightened security for Jewish communities.
