Littleproud speaks after Liberals net zero decision

The leader of the federal Coalition’s other party, the Nationals, is now speaking following Ley’s press conference.

David Littleproud commended Ley’s Liberals for showing “leadership” in abandoning net zero emissions by 2050 as a policy platform, after the Nationals did this themselves earlier this month.

He said his party would work constructively with the party to come to a unified policy platform.

“The Nationals came up with a cheaper, better, fairer plan than Labor’s $9 trillion net zero plan,” he said.

“And today, what we’ve heard from the Liberal Party gives us great hope that in the coming days that we’ll sit down constructively with them to work through the pathway that they’ve articulated that in many ways mirrors what the National Party was able to articulate.”

Three senior Liberals they are set to meet with the Nationals on Sunday.
