‘What a nightmare’: Excavator crash causes train delays near South Yarra

Huge delays are expected after a truck carrying an excavator hit the Alexandra Avenue bridge near South Yarra.

Caller Ron is caught up in the chaos and stated “nobody is going anywhere”.

“It’s going to take a while to clear this up,” Chris Miller from Transport Victoria told Jacqui Felgate.

Eyewitness Andrew called in and said there’s “concrete all over the place”.

“The bridge has been smashed,” Andrew said.

All South Eastern Lines for Metro trains and V/Line have been suspended.
