Nintendo announced a free Version 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on October 30, available to all original Switch players starting January 15, 2026, featuring Slumber Island creative mode, bulk crafting, expanded storage, and collaborations with Zelda and Splatoon characters.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launches the same day for $64.99, offering 4K visuals, mouse controls via Joy-Con, megaphone functionality, and support for up to 12 players online, with original owners able to upgrade for $4.99 while retaining save data.
The update and edition aim to extend the game’s life with quality-of-life improvements and new content.
