When a passenger boards the plane, they will almost always be greeted by smilingflight attendants at the door. They will check your ticket, direct you to your seat, and once in the cabin, even assist with finding space for your bags. However, this is not just being polite and good customer service; there is much more to those few seconds than one might think.

On April 3rd, Emirates reintroduced another Airbus A380 to service. The specific airframe was A6-EDF, which is about 19 years old and nearly double the average age of the carrier’s superjumbos. Its return to service saw an initial round-trip service between Dubai and Cairo. While it was the seventh A380 ever to be built, it was the sixth A380 delivered to the Gulf carrier; those that arrived sooner have since been retired or stored.
