ČD Cargo CEO Tomáš Tóth resigns

Tomáš Tóth is resigning from his position as CEO of Czech rail freight operator ČD Cargo. Tóth’s five-year term as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors ends on 31 October 2025. The current board members will take over management tasks until a new chairman has been found.
“At the end of my five-year term, I have decided to resign from my position as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of ČD Cargo”, Tomáš Tóth stated. “I am resigning for serious personal reasons, as I am no longer able to devote the same amount of attention and time to ČD Cargo as I have done until now. I would like to thank all our business partners and colleagues for their cooperation. The company is now stable and has taken further restructuring steps to ensure its long-term prosperity.”

Tóth began his career at ČD Cargo in 2007, after which he worked his way up to Director of Economics and Executive Director positions. In 2020, he was appointed CEO and Chairman of the Board.

ČD Cargo restructuring

“I would like to thank Tomáš Tóth for his work for ČD Cargo”, commented Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Czech rail operator České dráhy.

“The rail freight transport sector across Europe is in a deep crisis caused by rapid changes in the energy and industrial sectors, the consequences of which we are now experiencing firsthand in the rail sector. ČD Cargo is currently undergoing extensive restructuring, and the main task of the new management is to bring it to a successful conclusion in the coming period and ensure that ČD Cargo’s business is sustainable and profitable in the long term.”
