Bitcoin Surges to Record $125,689 High Amid U.S. Government Shutdown

On October 5, 2025, Bitcoin reached a new all-time high of $125,689, boosting its market capitalisation above $2.4 trillion and positioning it as the world’s seventh most valuable asset, surpassing Amazon.

The rally, fueled by the U.S. government shutdown entering its third day, strong institutional demand, and inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs, has analysts predicting further gains to $135,000 based on historical October patterns and Bitcoin’s safe-haven status.

Trading volume exceeded $57 billion in 24 hours, with over $80 million in short positions liquidated.
