Unlocking Land For More Homes In Riddells Creek

The Allan Labor Government is unlocking land for a new community in the Macedon Ranges – featuring more homes and new open spaces for families to enjoy.

Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny has approved the Amess Road Precinct Structure Plan – paving the way for 1,360 more homes in a brand new estate in Riddells Creek.

The new community will be home to around 3,800 Victorians and provide more than seven hectares of open space – catering to a growing community.

In total, more than 131 hectares of land will create the new community, which is situated on the north eastern edge of the Riddells Creek township and ten per cent of homes will be dedicated to affordable housing.

The Plan includes the delivery of a new community centre and upgrades to the Riddells Creek Recreation Reserve, which will benefit the community that is expected to grow by 2,000 over the next decade.

Two rounds of consultation helped shape the Amess Road Precinct Structure Plan and more than 1,300 submissions were received, with many highlighting a clear need for better connections, additional residential land to accommodate population growth, upgrading open spaces and delivering shared user paths.

Local road connections will also be improved, with a new roundabout to be completed at Kilmore Road and Gyro Close, as well as upgrades at the intersection of Kilmore and Amess Roads.

This follows recent investments across the region, including upgrading the Melbourne Road and Kilmore Road intersection in Gisborne.

The Labor Government has invested heavily in Riddells Creek, upgrading the play equipment and learning spaces at the Riddells Creek kindergarten, Gisborne Secondary College, while also building the new Macedon Ranges Regional Sports Precinct – a new CFA station and upgraded road crossings will also be delivered.

  1. I hope they are considering extending the electrification and Metro Train services from Sunbury to Gisborne. This would add more value to Gisborne and Riddles Creek with better frequency and reducing overloading on the Bendigo Services.
