The new regional jet, snapped in an Embraer hangar in Brazil, is set to bear the registration VH-E2A and the name “Coral Bay”, and is expected to touch down in Australia in early September.
As reported in The Australian, at least 17 crew members that were due to travel to Doha for the placement with Qatar have been told the program is on hold, while Virgin Australia is offering support to staff already in Doha seeking to return to Australia.
The 17-hour-trip service, paid for by the Flying Kangaroo, came after Australian citizens and permanent residents were first evacuated via separate charter flights from the war-torn country.
