FAA Publishes Boeing 747-400F AD To Address Risks Of Fuel Tank Explosions

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has published a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to address potential Boeing 747-400F fuel tank explosions after receiving reports of improperly applied cap seals to certain fasteners on aircraft of the type. This reduced their electrical insulation and increased the risk of a fuel tank explosion.
