Ukrainian defense forces have destroyed a Russian freight train carrying fuel tanks in the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region, disrupting railway connections used for supplying Russian troops.
According to activist Petro Andriushchenko, the incident occurred between Urozhayne and Tokmak. Following the initial strike, the train derailed and was further targeted with additional aerial systems.
The Battalion of Unmanned Systems of the 65th Mechanized Brigade released video evidence showing FPV drones striking the moving train, suggesting this was the method used to stop and disable it.
Images published after the strike show burning fuel tanks and significant fire damage that paralysed the railway line.
The attack took place less than 30 kilometers from the front line, within the range of modern strike drones.
The railway in this area is a single-track line that connects Russia with occupied Crimea. Until repairs are completed, this route cannot be used, forcing Russian logistics to rely on road transport or the Kerch Bridge.
The scale of the damage and the resulting fire complicate recovery efforts. While repair of tracks alone may take about a day, the destruction of fuel tanks is expected to delay restoration for longer.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Air Force struck Russian bridges and pontoon crossings near Zvanoe in the Kursk region, using US-supplied JDAM-ER and GBU-39 bombs. The attacks disrupted routes used to move military equipment, forcing Russia to divert resources to restore logistics.
That will block the line for a few days.
