A Chinese Youtuber with money to burn and more spare time than most has constructed a working miniature subway system for his cat.
Xing Zhilei, who has a background in engineering, said the subway took four months to complete. He explained the idea came after viewers asked him to take on a new challenge following the popularity of a video uploaded two years ago when he built a house for his furry friend, Mr Nice.
Xing faced two main technical hurdles: synchronising the opening of train and platform doors, and creating a functioning miniature escalator. After months of unsuccessfully tackling these problems, he decided to begin the project regardless, aiming to iron out the details as he progressed.
Hardly a textbook example of successful project planning, once he decided to push ahead, the project came together successfully and with strikingly realistic results.
A video of the project posted online in China passed 100 million views within the first two days and has already attracted close to one million views on X.
Xing’s previous accomplishments included building a supermarket, cinema, and island getaway for his pets.
