Few airlines are changing as much as Southwest. To help arrest lackluster financial performance and increase competitiveness, it now charges for bags, offers overnight flights, and will begin assigning seats and charging for extra-legroom seats. Numerous changes are occurring to its network and schedule. For example, as pointed out by Cranky Flier, Chicago Midway, Denver, Nashville, and St. Louis will have four distinct banks of flights daily in the carrier’s drive to grow transit traffic.
