On the evening of August 15th, speculation across social media stated a Metro Train had derailed near or about Macauley Railway Station.
Very little has been said but the attached image from Twitter illustrates the shutdown of the Upfield line between Melbourne and Coburg. (why it would need to be shut for such a long length is not certain but probably due to Metro Trains cutbacks on infrastructure)
It is believed the train derailed on a set of points leading to the light repair centre a metro facility in the area.

Buses were called to move passengers between the train service gap with delays of 60 minutes or more for the bus replacements.
As at the time of publishing this article the line had reopened.
This is the second derailment on the Metro Trains Network in nearly a month after the serious derailment at Clifton Hill in July 2025.
Probably a minor derailment trains are running again.
Derailments on the network have become commonplace. Ow with much coverup from
Metro on the incidents. Does the government know?
I know they do not care.
