CLIP Group to build new intermodal terminal in Małaszewicze

Container Terminal Mala, a subsidiary of the CLIP Group, is building a new terminal in Małaszewicze. The group calls it “one of the most important logistics investments in recent years in Central and Eastern Europe”, at the crossroads of western and eastern rail freight.
CLIP Group signed a contract for the terminal with construction company TorKol. The project is valued at around 30 million euros, of which nearly 41% is funded by the European Union. It chips in with around 11,7 million euros. The new terminal is scheduled for completion in June 2026.

This is what the works will entail in concrete terms, as per CLIP Group:

  • The construction of a new track system
  • Modernising arrival and departure tracks
  • Building yards and roads with “full technical infrastructure”
  • Installing modern transshipment equipment and state-of-the-art IT systems

All in all, the works will enable both rail-to-road and rail-to-rail transshipment, including between the 1,520-millimetre and 1,435-millimetre gauges.

The intersection between east and west

“This is an investment of strategic importance both for CLIP Group and for the whole of Poland. The terminal in Małaszewicze will become one of the key links in the European Union’s transport infrastructure and will strengthen our position as an operator of modern intermodal logistics,” says Agnieszka Hipś, CEO of Container Terminal Mala.

“The terminal is being built in one of the most sensitive points of European infrastructure – at the junction of the EU customs community and Eurasian transport corridors”, writes CLIP Group. “It is here that the economic interests of the East and the West intersect, and Poland – as a frontline country of the European Union – gains a real chance to play the role of the continent’s commodity gate.”
