The Federal Court ordered Webjet to pay the penalties after it admitted to making false or misleading statements about the price of flights and booking confirmations between 2018 and 2023, having advertised prices that excluded compulsory fees.
In a statement issued after her reappointment, the returning transport minister stated that “preserving regional aviation” would form part of a “significant agenda” during the next three years.
In his 2024–25 budget overview released on Tuesday, Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas said that the state government has a “huge amount of funding” tied up with the rail link project, and needs to be “realistic about the project and its timeline”.
