Tom Elliott from 3AW conveniently fails to mention on his extreme right wing radio show the North East Link project already at $26B and going higher with an initial marginal business case at $10B will be the largest project to drain the Victorian Taxpayer in 50 years.
This project is so environmentally damaging the government is playing such a low key approach to the project. The Hurstbridge railway line (already closed for 2 months this year) is collateral damage and another by product of a failed transport policy,
Only recently toxic chemicals from the site have been seen in creeks damaging the environment. It has been reported over 70,000 trees have been removed from the area an disaster for birds and other wildlife.
It is mentioned the total project cost for construction may exceed $32B for a tunnel and road no taxpayer really wanted except for a union perhaps.
North east link has no business case and will be congestion causing.
