Journey changes between Birmingham and London Marylebone tomorrow

Passengers planning to travel between Birmingham and London Marylebone tomorrow are being warned of changes to services while engineering upgrades take place.

The work, which will help provide better and more reliable journeys for passengers and freight services, means the Chiltern main line will be closed between Warwick Parkway and Solihull tomorrow (Sunday 20 July) until 4pm.

The vital work will predominantly affect Chiltern Railways services and journeys will take longer than usual with rail replacement bus services in operation. Buses will run in both directions between Warwick Parkway and Solihull until 4pm on Sunday 20 July.

Network Rail’s teams will be carrying out track work and level crossing maintenance in the Dorridge area, to help keep the railway safe for the passenger and freight services which use the line.

Neil Gaskin, programme director for Network Rail Central route, said: “I am sorry for the disruption caused while we complete this essential track work and maintenance. We know there is never a good time to close the railway but this work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum while delivering the most future benefits for passengers and freight.

“If you’re planning to travel, please plan ahead and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”

Michael Stewart, commercial and customer strategy director at Chiltern Railways, said: “I would like to thank customers for their patience while these works are being carried out by Network Rail which will make sure the railway is more reliable and safer for customers.

“Please check your journeys in advance if you are travelling in the affected areas on Sunday as they will be subject to disruption and may involve a rail replacement bus.”

Passengers should check www.nationalrail.co.uk or with Chiltern Railways for the latest journey information and travel advice.
