Southwest Airlines commenced operations in 1971, and has since grown to become the fourth-largest airline in North America. Today, the low-cost carrier operates the largest fleet of Boeing 737s in the world, with the latest data from ch-aviation showing a staggering total of 801 aircraft, made up of 342 737-700s, 203 737-800s, and 257 737 MAX 8s.
