Continental Airlines Flight 11 was one of the deadliest accidents to take place during the 1960s, and it often goes under-discussed by aviation safety historians. This incident involved a Boeing 707 aircraft operated by Continental Airlines that exploded near Centerville, Iowa. Continental Airlines was a major legacy carrier for most of the 20th century and was later acquired and merged into United Airlines.
