Ballarat and beyond passengers are currently experiencing suspended services beyond Melton as a part of the overpriced and poorly designed Melton Level Crossing Removal project. This project is marketed as a major service improvement for Ballarat Line passengers but it is not. It will not deliver any more services than an alternative and less expensive solution would have delivered.
There will be a series of major service outages over the coming period for weeks at a time to construct a poorly designed and engineered solution for Melton and the Ballarat Line.
Why then during these large outages of services can’t V/Line run trains express from Deer Park to Corio and then via the rail line from Geelong to Ballarat and then onto designations beyond?
The rail line between Geelong and Ballarat has been maintained with both state and federal funding meaning the track is in very good condition and could easily be used for passenger services.
This lack of planning and respect of passengers only further highlights the awkward and insufficient policy and focus by V/Line Management. They would rather sit on their hands and ignore a problem than take a positive step to provide a viable alternative.
Oh my that Assist CEO Warwick Hoseworthy is in the rail industry As Metropolitan railway profession….
It seems he out of his depth as he seems to operating the V/line service like shorter distance Metro Suburban Rail system instead of a Regional Rail intercity system….which people spend long time on the trains it’s self!
Plus the head of Operations background is Bunning’s store manager which outside the Rail Transport Industry!!!
There is big difference between transporting people around Vic to furniture….
Ludicrous comment!

Suggesting the single line between North Shore and Ballarat could cope with the regular V/Line service? Clearly you have rocks in your head. Moreover the line between North Shore and Warrenheip is speed limited to 80Km/h.
Yes that the way Mike every post u put up is always bagging the author who write the article!!!
If you think you are so good why don’t put suggestion how to improve it???
Write your own blog and put up your suggestion line or are you a bag of wind?
Do the talk, do the walk!!!
Would the single line be a problem they could add the second line at a station and use that line too. It is surely time trains ran between Geelong and Ballarat for passengers.
V/line cannot appear to run the network in a way that minimises customer trauma.
