Three people dead after horror crash on Western Highway

Police have confirmed three people have died after a horror smash in Armstrong.

Two cars, a B-double and two trucks were involved in the collision on the Western Highway, which occurred near the intersection of Thomas Road at around 12:30pm on Wednesday.

I have been writing recently about the shocking number of trucks on Victorian Roads orchestrated by Freight Victoria who have a list of failed or under delivered rail projects across the state of Victoria.

There are not real plans or strategy to reduce the number of dangerous trucks on Victorian roads instead Freight Victoria are pushing for larger and larger killer trucks with the assistance of Vicroads.

As a result of this biased freight strategy Victorian Roads are now the worst in Australia costing $billions to maintain as heavy vehicles smash the roads.

Further the amount of freight carried on rail in Victoria has dropped to historic lows.

Caller Robin, who was driving from Adelaide to Melbourne, told 3AW Afternoons police were redirecting traffic near the area.

This simply cannot continue.

  1. That not good…..the speed on freeway are getting slower, they are more cars and trucks and people are getting very impatient on the roads lately since COVID lockdowns are a nasty past memory…..

Now the planners have alot to answer for as one can’t make good informed decisions from sitting on their bottoms in a office behind a PC on a desk!

Plus a lot of those design for those newer stations etc. are more suited for tropical climate not the cooler Temperate climate of Vic very exposed to driving rain and bitting winds!

Look great on papers but in a practical sense it not so well thought out!

This from planners and advisors in the DTOP,PTV who don’t travel on the public transport, rail system on a regular basis to collect date on site as they prefer tax funded cars to get to and from meetings!

They decisions lately has shown to the people they favour road transport more than rail!

Plus pandering to the noisy cyclist lobby group for rail trial at the expense of allowing the rail system to expand to cater for growing population in Regional as well as urban Vic!

      1. You should be understanding word salads Mike, don’t you work with lawyers or politician in your former job as public servant??? Lol

You got the right uppity adittude for one!!!
