Earlier this week, an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 operating a US domestic flight from Chicago, Illinois to Portland, Oregon experienced a rather eventful departure when one of its tires burst upon takeoff. While the narrowbody twinjet was able to continue westward to its destination as planned, emergency services in Portland were asked to be on standby as the aircraft approached the Oregonian hub.
