Romania, a member of the European Union that has yet to be completely integrated into the Schenghen Area, has a diverse commercial aviation industry with a fascinating history. The center of this industry has historically been the nation’s principal aviation gateway at Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport (OTP), a facility that has long served the country’s capital city. With a diverse mix of low-cost carriers and full-service airlines operating flights to and from the airport today, it is not surprising that the airport has grown into such a dynamic aviation hub.
