St. Patrick’s Day: Almost Half Of Ireland Population Travels For Weekend Celebrations

While St. Patrick's Day is a popular celebration in the US, it is most observed in the Emerald Isle, where it is a bank holiday, businesses are closed, and students do not attend school. As it falls on a Sunday this year, the following Monday will also be off. Many families take advantage of this by going on a short holiday abroad or domestically.
