We’re upgrading the Melton Line to prepare for 9-car VLocity trains.
Passengers in Melbourne’s west will benefit with the new 9-car trains boosting passenger capacity by 50%, reducing crowding on busy services.
As well as providing more space, the 9-car trains also provide more doors for boarding.
As part of the Melton Line Upgrade to house the new trains we’ll build a new stabling facility in Cobblebank, approximately 700m east of the new Melton Station.
The new stabling facility in Cobblebank will allow trains to be at Melton Station, ready for first services to the city and support trains running efficiently between Melton and the city.
The Cobblebank train stabling facility will include:
- stabling for 6 9-car VLocity trains
- signalling and communication systems
- facilities and parking for workers
- connections to the Melton Line so trains can easily enter and exit the site
- CCTV and lighting.
Construction of the new Cobblebank stabling facility is expected to start in 2026 and the 9-car VLocity trains will run to and from Melton from 2028.
Brad,Vline is constantly reducing capcity of VoLcity 3×3 to 3×2 to Wyhamvale at a regular baisis atm….due to train faults!
This seems like a operator’s fantasy!
They can’t even get that right yet! Straighten to current issue before doing this!!!
Cannot see this happening with the lack of DMUs and rolling stock due nurmous VoLcitys out of action waiting for repairs or needing go to the bio wash after animal strikes!!!
