Following a major airline ordering new aircraft is a slow, speculative and often frustrating process that follows a very similar pathway, irrespective of the airline or the airplane. It starts with mostly unfounded speculation that goes on for months and surprisingly finally gets announced at a major air show, such as the Paris, Dubai, Singapore or Farnborough shows.
