USAF F-22 Raptors Get $270 Million Infrared Sensor Upgrade

The United States Air Force’s (USAF’s) top air superiority fighter jet, the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor, is finally getting infrared sensors in the form of TacIRST sensors, collectively known as the Infrared Defensive System (IRDS). The Lockheed Martin sensors will finally bring the F-22 Raptor in league with many other air superiority fighter jets, ranging from the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet to the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II family.
