Vietjet is one of the low-cost carriers of Vietnam, offering a large number of flights domestically and around the Asia-Pacific region. Vietjet’s fleet is exclusively made up of 94 Airbus aircraft, including the A320, A321, and A330 aircraft (although it has placed a massive order for Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft). Most striking is Vietjet’s decision to operate two Chinese-made COMAC C909 (formerly ARJ21) regional jets from China. While this could be the beginning of a shift to purchasing Chinese aircraft, the move stems from a unique set of circumstances that arose for Vietjet around the increased travel demand for the Lunar New Year.
