Most travelers have plenty of experience of boarding aircraft using stairs from the ground. This is obvious when parked at a remote stand or a stand with no jet bridge linked to the terminal. But it is also often the case even when there is a working jet bridge in place. Passengers simply walk (or get taken by bus) around the jet bridge to board using stairs.
