The first ever Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) was based on the Boeing 737-700 commercial airframe. The BBJs feature specific modifications to serve the private jet market. Boeing rolled out the first BBJ on July 26, 1998, and performed its first flight on September 4. While the BBJ was initially coined to represent that private type of private jet, it later represented any modified commercial airframe serving the private jet market.
